Scenario: Fundamentals of AI and ML

Real problems do not come with the facts lined up. You get a messy situation, a few decisions to make, and feedback on each one.

Make the call. Live with the outcome.

Start the scenario5 scenarios, about 10 min

What you will practise

You will practise Fundamentals of AI and ML, with questions touching AI concepts, AI use cases and ML lifecycle.

  • AI concepts
  • AI use cases
  • ML lifecycle

It is part of the AWS Certified AI Practitioner track (AIF-C01), where Fundamentals of AI and ML is about 20% of the exam.

A taste of what you will get

  • Dana, CEO of SMB Inc., a 120-person wholesale distributor, tells the board what she wants: every morning, a system reads the overnight sales figures and customer emails and writes her a one-page summary. If a top-20 customer has complained, it books a 15-minute call in her calendar and drafts a reply for her approval.

It summarises the news, then books calls and drafts replies on its own. Which term best describes it?

    • Agentic AI
    • Generative AI
    • Supervised machine learning
    • Deep learning

Answer: Agentic AI. The system pursues a goal over several steps: it gathers information, decides what matters, and takes actions through tools (calendar, email), with Dana approving the reply. Takeaway: generative AI creates; agentic AI plans and acts toward a goal using tools, often with a human checkpoint.

  • Raj, a data analyst in Amy's finance team, has trained a model that predicts which invoices will be paid late. At the end of each month it must score all 2 million invoices. Amy needs the results by the next morning, and nobody is waiting on an individual answer.

2 million invoices, results by morning, nobody waiting on a single answer. Which inference type fits?

    • Real-time inference
    • Asynchronous inference
    • Serverless inference
    • Batch inference

Answer: Batch inference. A large volume, processed on a schedule, with nobody waiting on a single result. Batch is the most cost-effective because nothing stays running between jobs. Takeaway: big job, on a schedule, no one waiting means batch; an instant answer per request means real-time.

How scoring works

  • Every correct answer pays 10 XP for each difficulty level, so an easy item is worth 10, a medium one 20 and a hard one 30.
  • Answer with time to spare and you can earn up to 5 bonus XP on top.
  • A wrong answer pays nothing. It does not cost you anything either.
  • Flashcards pay 2 XP each time you grade yourself 3 or higher.
  • Using a hint costs 2 XP, so use it when it helps, not when it is comfortable.
