Whiteboard: Fundamentals of GenAI

Knowing the Fundamentals of GenAI services is one thing. Knowing where each one goes is another. Each round gives you a requirement and a diagram with empty boxes: drag the right services in, leave the decoys out, and read why each piece fits.

Draw the design before someone asks you to.

What you will practise

You will practise Fundamentals of GenAI, with questions touching AWS GenAI services.

  • AWS GenAI services

It is part of the AWS Certified AI Practitioner track (AIF-C01), where Fundamentals of GenAI is about 24% of the exam.

A taste of what you will get

  • Leo wants a support chat built on a ready-made foundation model through one API, with no servers to manage. It must never repeat customers' personal details back in a reply.

Sample design 1: Mei's support assistant. Which service fills the empty box?

    • Amazon Bedrock Guardrails
    • Amazon SageMaker JumpStart
    • Amazon Transcribe

Answer: Amazon Bedrock Guardrails. Checks prompts and replies, and masks personal details such as addresses before they reach the customer.

  • Customers ask where their order is. Mei wants an agent that looks it up through the existing order API, with no servers to manage, scaling with demand.

Sample design 2: Mei's order-status agent. Which service fills the empty box?

    • Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway
    • Amazon Polly
    • Amazon SageMaker JumpStart

Answer: Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway. Turns the existing order API into a tool the agent can call (MCP).

How scoring works

  • Every correct answer pays 10 XP for each difficulty level, so an easy item is worth 10, a medium one 20 and a hard one 30.
  • Answer with time to spare and you can earn up to 5 bonus XP on top.
  • A wrong answer pays nothing. It does not cost you anything either.
  • Flashcards pay 2 XP each time you grade yourself 3 or higher.
  • Using a hint costs 2 XP, so use it when it helps, not when it is comfortable.
  • Finish a session on consecutive days to build a streak. Your progress lives in your browser, and signing in syncs it.
